What is SEO and how it works?
SEO(Search Engine Optimization) is the process by which the Search Engines list of relevant searches requested by the user and list them rank wise, such that top rank sites according to Search Engine Algorithm will be placed in the first Page of Search Engines like Google. Google use a method called crawler to determine the search and ranking of pages.
Usually Search Engines compares the key word of the content in all the web pages to that of the key word requested by the user.This comparison takes place w.r.t to the HTML content of that site and the site which uses the Key word effectively and also with very good contents tops the list.
Black Hat vs White Hat
Black Hat is the process by which webmasters of the site follow illegal practices to get their site on the top of Search Engine Results Page(SERP). Some of them includes,
i) Keyword Stuffing: Webmasters use the keywords often and unnecessarily to bring their page on top.This is not the best practice.
ii) Farmlinks:Since Google determines the ranking based on the number of backlinks present, some may give or share their links to hundreds of site to get their site to top results page of Google. This is also illegal, if they post their links unnecessarily to all sites which has no related to post to your contents.
Avoiding these methods and making use of keywords effectively will comes under White Hat tehniques
